[THE STRENGTH OF EXPERIENCE]
How Remote interpreting solutions led to a successful and productive international event amid the pandemic?
On the afternoon of Africa Day (May 25th), the Institute of Africa and Middle East Studies held a ceremony to celebrate this very special day and launched VAECA (Vietnam Africa Economic Cooperation Alliance). The ceremony carried an immensely important political and diplomatic meaning with the participation of Leaders and Ambassadors from Vietnam, Africa, and the Middle East. However, the 4th wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in Vietnam caused many obstacles, forcing the organizers to operate the event within the form of an online conference. With delegates from various nations using many different languages (English, French, Vietnamese), the best solution that can help the organizers to connect speakers and attendees is Remote Interpretation.
CHALLENGE
For events like these to run without a hitch and be fruitful, it’s essential for the interpreting support to be efficiently organized. Nonetheless, due to the complicated situation of the pandemic, the organizers rushed to change the form of the event from offline to online. As a result, they only had one day before the event (24/05) to search and select a language solution provider. Besides, the event content entwined closely with historical, political, and diplomatic factors, so any perceived flaws in interpreting could lead to diplomatically sensitive situations. Obviously, the event required interpreters having solid background knowledge and experience in these fields. Thus, these two factors posed a significant barrier in ensuring the quality of the interpreting process.
But the challenge doesn’t end there. This international event was attended by delegates from various nations requiring a range of language combinations and interpreting solutions.
HOW SAO KHUE HELPED
In the afternoon of 24/05 (only one day before the event), our team was officially assigned for this project and received the related documents. However, our best interpreting talent with a working knowledge of diplomatic and political terminology and a thorough understanding of the complexity of the situation had quickly got ready.

RESULT
The AFRICA DAY CELEBRATION 2021 and the OPENING OF VAECA (Vietnam – Africa Economic Cooperation Union) took place successfully despite several obstacles thanks to our flexible strategy and high-quality language solution. The success of the event promises to create a solid foundation for close cooperation and mutual development between Vietnam, the Middle East, and Africa.
